Rahul Nawle is a qualified Architect,urban design and environmental planner. He is an IGBC Accredited Professional for design and certification of green buildings. He has worked on some of the award winning projects in India and abroad, including urban design competitions under Smart City Program.

He has a wide international experience in the field of architecture, urban design, urban and environmental planning and impact assessment.

He has worked with various international firms and government institutions in Asia (viz. India, Bhutan, Hong Kong and Shanghai).
He was a consultant to the Government of Bhutan for preparing and implementing urban plans. He was advisor for the Bhutan National Urbanization Strategy and Thimphu City Development Strategy, which was a World Bank funded project.
His experience in China – Hong Kong and Shanghai include planning and designing of seven new towns, eco-tourism projects,Victoria Harbor front redevelopment proposal, which won the prestigious award for the team i.e. the 2008 Merit award of The American Institute of Architects.

He was principal urban designer for King Abdulla Financial District, Riyadh, which was a land mark project in Saudi Arabia.
At BNCA, he is involved in conducting various research and planning studios related to strategy formulation for resilient cities, climate change (heat island, urban flooding, etc.) mitigation measures, deriving morphology for TOD based development, sustainable urban design, Environmental Planning, etc. for Masters Course in Environmental Architecture.

Currently, he is the Vice President of Srujan Research and Planning Foundation, consultancy firm based in Pune, working in the field of Sustainable Development. He has been working and advising on projects pertaining to architecture, urban designand environmental enhancement.
