Poorva Kulkarni is working as Archineering Head for BNCA. She has published research papers at national and international level. Her core area of research is alternative technologies for construction.
She has been actively working for the development of students as a professional. She has initiated few activities like Edutech club,Buildtext publication, Tech Talk and Green good deeds .Archineering section is dedicated to technology which tries to join the gap between academic learning and architecture profession. The Archineering section invites eminent architects, structural engineers, industry experts to present their works. Students get an opportunity to interact with the speakers.
She is the chief editor of a publication, Build text (By Archineering section) .BNCA aspires to achieve higher standards and excellence in education through this endeavor. This platform is helpful for the students to develop a good inclination towards building technology and makes the students aware of the current market trends.
The Department of Building Technology aims to impart practical knowledge of Building Construction to the students and generating confidence in these budding architects through the knowledge of site details while dealing with contractors. This is achieved through alternative teaching and learning methods. The exposure to practical knowledge is achieved through hands on experiences, visits to construction sites and manufacturing industries to understand construction processes and materials. The department has its own publication ‘BuildText’ where students and faculty publish their research in the area of technology, materials and current practices etc. An interface between industry and academics is established through ‘EduTech’ club. The department has its own robust material museum and construction yard for hands on experiences.

Technology is the essence of economy. As a part of building industry, we need to be on the forefront of technology. Keeping this vision in mind, Department of Building Technology at BNCA initiated a new lecture series which is one of the prestigious annual events at BNCA.
This lecture series has been initiated in the name of Architect Shridhar Athavale, as a tribute to his contribution in architectural education in Pune. He had been a pioneer to initiate architectural education in Pune and had worked as Head of the Department of Architecture at Bhartiya Kala Prasarini Sabha’s college of Architecture, Pune. In his memory the building technology department of the college has started the “Shridhar Athavale lecture series”, aimed at bridging the gap between the academics and the construction practices in India. They are intended to provide a common platform for interaction and experience exchange between all the professionals in the construction industry and students.
Every year, eminent architects, structural engineers and experts who have worked in the field of construction technology are invited as a speaker to guide the students and professionals in the field.

Department of building technology initiated a publication, Buildtext, in 2016. Technology is the essence of economy. As a part of construction industry, students and teachers need to be on the forefront of technology. We as stake holders of the industry ,need to be updated with current architecture trends and upcoming technology in the field of construction. We are living in the modern era where we are developing tremendously day by day with huge pace of technology. While going ahead, the first most important duty of an architect to be extremely sensitive towards nature.With this publication, we are trying to know about the new technologies, new trends, which would take us closer to nature.
The vision for BNCA says that architecture education can not be ever confined within four walls of classroom. It must get extended to all stakeholders of construction industry like manufactures, experts from industry, reserarchers, structural engineers, contractors etc. This will be an important milestone in the academic progress of students in the field of construction technology. We aspire to achieve higher standards and excellence in education through this endeavour. This platform will be helpful for students to develop a good inclination towards building technology and shall make the students aware of the current market trends.This advent of a publication in the department, will encourage more and more students to understand the technology better and develop their potential to be a technically sound and environmentally sensitive architects.

Edutech club at BNCA
Building technology department, started a club,Edutech , dedicated to technology related activities, in BNCA, This club carries out activities like lecture series, workshops, interactions with experts, site visits etc. This club conducts a programme once in a month. Architecture course being a professional course, practical knowledge is equally essential for development of a student as a professional.Prof Poorva Kulkarni and Prof. Dharati Sote initiated this club in 2016.The platform gets extended to company owners, contractors, technical experts, manufacturers etc. This platform is helpful to develop a good inclination towards building technology and makes the students aware of the current market trends.
