Objective

The objective of architectural education in this institute is to tap and develop the artistic skills, intellectual abilities and creative instincts of the students.  It aims to nurture them as trained professional architects whose design solutions would contribute to the quality of built environment and welfare of our society and the subsequent economic development of our country.  It focuses on the basic research in the technological fields of architecture, planning and computer based training of an international level, to provide a global exposure to our students in architectural education, placement and professional word.

History of BNCA

Dr. Bhanuben Nanavati College of Architecture for Women, founded in 1994 under the able leadership of Mr. Avinash Wardekar and Principal Anurag Kashyap, with the generous donation of Rs. 90 lakhs given by Late Mr. Mahendrabhai Nanavati has a glorious historical background of Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Sanstha, Pune, founded in 1896, with the main mission of uplifting the social, educational, financial and spiritual conditions of women and widows, making them confident and self reliant. The institute is conceived as a multidisciplinary center of learning where architectural education is considered as a total personality development program. It offers Bachelor of Architecture - B. Arch. and Master of Architecture- M. Arch. programs under University of Pune, autonomous diploma program and YCMOU master programs. It was evolved in essence to ensure quality education and it has maintained this agenda to the present day. This institute has been established with a futuristic approach and idealism towards architectural education.

Endowed with an excellent infrastructure, motivating faculty and a great tradition of empowering women through education for the last 114 years, we are committed to establish and enhance the importance and role of women in the challenging field of Architecture and Interior Design. The college has developed an excellent infrastructure consisting of the following facilities as per the norms laid down by the Council of Architecture New Delhi and Government of Maharashtra.

The college is a part of 26 acre campus layout of the Samstha. It has a well-designed building with a scenic landscaping around and a central courtyard for interaction, recreation and cultural activities. The building covers a total floor area of 30,000 sq. ft. distributed on four floors. Audiovisual presentation facilities, model making room and workshop, art and crafts studio, auditorium and exhibition space, are some of the other facilities, which are also provided. Facilities for indoor and outdoor games like table tennis, badminton, cricket and carrom are provided for recreation.
